Things to Do | Covington, Louisiana
My sister moved to Virginia a few months ago for grad school and I’ve missed her like crazy. But, her Fall Break is coming up! She has a list of things to do that any out-of-towner should experience when they visit St. Tammany Parish! So if you’re looking to visit the best part of Louisiana (kidding but not really), you’ll want to pin this for later!
ALL OF THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS
Covington has a ton of restaurants that are the actual best. Mac’s on Boston, La Carreta’s, and Cane’s are on Stephanie’s list, but you could spend two weeks or more eating at all of the restaurants Covington has to offer. (I’m most excited about dressing up and going to Mac’s on Boston and the bottomless chips and salsa and margaritas at La Carreta’s.)
RIDE BIKES ON THE TRACE
The Tammany Trace is one of the best outdoor activities that the parish has to offer! Rent bikes at Brooks’ Bike Shop and get on your bikes and ride! Ride from city to city and stop at quaint restaurants and museums along the way! Plan your ride here. Picture from our last family ride–I can’t wait to go again!
TAKE THE BOAT OUT
When heading to Louisiana, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to get out on the water! Whether that’s kayaking, canoeing, or boating–you won’t be disappointed. Plus, with the weather feeling very much like summer still, it’s the perfect time to squeeze in a few more nautical hours.
JAZZ’N THE VINES
If you’re in town from Spring to Fall, head out to the sticks for a concert under the stars. Pontchartrain Vineyards hosts a concert series, Jazz’n the Vines that mixes local wines with local bands. Here’s a recap from the last time we went!
STAY AT A B&B
There are TONS of quaint B&Bs in Covington, as well as, AirBNBs available for your stay. I for one will be staying at my parents for a weekend for a sister sleepover extraordinaire! P.S. I’m trying to get my parents to rent out their pool house–I mean, how gorgeous is it?!
Have you ever visited? What are your favorite things to do?
P.S. Hurry home Steph!
