Coffee Talk | Let’s Catch Up

Coffee Talk

Happy Wednesday! Let’s grab coffee and catch up.

I started watching Gossip Girl again. What have I done?! I literally watch it every waking second and dream about it when I’m sleeping. It’s just as good as it was the first time around and I highly recommend re-watching it! Other things in my queue on Netflix are: Beauty and the Beast, Mad Men, and White Gold (because Chuck Bass is in it!)

My sister moved to Virginia last month and I miss her like crazy! (Hey Steph!) If anyone have any recommendations for things to do in Virginia (for her)/how to NOT miss your sister (for me), send them my way!

I’ve been putting a TON of pressure on myself to be a “good blogger.” Y’all. What does that even mean? And more importantly, why am I still buying into that? Ugh. But really, here’s the part of our coffee date where you talk me out of the comparison game!

I’m so ready for Fall. I know it’s “technically” Fall, but Louisiana still has a long way to go temperature wise. If I even think about booties and scarves, I break out into a sweat. With temps in the 90s, I’ll stick with my light and breezy tops as long as I can thank you very much.

When the husband and I would both be content eating Pizza Rolls for the rest of our lives, it’s hard to cook for two picky people. To shake things up,  I’ve been trying ALL of the Pinterest recipes lately. And not to brag, but I’m now capable of cooking more than just Easy Mac! We had this roast for dinner last night (a recipe my mom swears by) and I tried this taco recipe last week! Also, the crockpot? Totally my BFF now!

  • I’m in Virginia! Where did your sister move? VA is so large and varied…from metro NOVA to the beach cities, to artsy Richmond to the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding Roanoke…I have lots of recommendations!

    • Allison

      She lives in Virginia Beach!

  • I love crockpot recipes- serious life saver! I have a Pinterest board full of them and if I ever come across one we don’t like I make sure to unpin it! I finished Shameless on Netflix – it’s a little wild but SO good.

  • Monica L

I love love trying new recipes! Also, don’t stress comparing blogs everyone is different and has their own strengths!

  • Where in VA? I am in VA!!! depending on where I can try to help <3

  • Jordyn Upchurch

I’m so sad for you and your sister having to do long distance! My sister lives two hours away, so we don’t see each other very often (because adulating and work-life kind of stink too) but we are constantly snap chatting, texting, tagging each other in memes, sending gifs to one another…you kinda get used to it, but it doesn’t get “easy” or go away. Just try to stay in touch as often as you can 🙂

  • I can’t imagine living so far from my sisters! I’m three hours away from my two younger sisters when I’m at college and I miss them all the time!

Where in VA is your sister living?! I’m originally from Manassas, VA and I go to school in Williamsburg, VA. If she’s in Northern Virginia or in the Peninsula region, I’m full of recommendations 🙂 feel free to give her my email —

    • Allison

      She’s in Virginia Beach!

  • I was literally thinking the other day how I need to rewatch Gossip Girl! Also my sister lives about an hour away and we literally text 24/7, FaceTime a lot, and then meetup any chance we get!

    The Blush Blonde

  • I still haven’t managed to watch Gossip Girl, but clearly need to add it to my list! And feeling you with the weather haha – it was so nice here in BR last week and now it’s hot as heck again! Fingers crossed it cools down soon!

  • Ashley Stephenson

I hear ya with the pizza rolls!! My husband isn’t picky but I am so we usually stick to basic recipes too but he just adds all the hot sauce to make it better for him!

  • Brooke Pollard

It’s so funny that you started off with “One: I’m watching Gossip Girl again.” because last night I was literally thinking to myself I need to watch GG again, but should I really do it or will it distract me from life haha. It was like a sudden urge! Love that show Xo

  • I tried really hard to get into White Gold, and I struggled. Haha. I watched the first episode and was just kind of over it… so I went back to watching Gossip Girl for the millionth time.

Also, I am right there with you on being ready for it to feel like fall. We had a record high this week… Yay. Haha.

What is it with husbands and Pizza?!

  • Erin Brown

Hey! I live in Virginia! I’m in the Richmond area and there are loads of fun things to do here. I’m really excited about apple picking in Carter Mountain. You should tell her about it.

  • Prerana, from Broadcloth

You can never watch Gilmore Girls too many times. It’s always good. Same with Mad Men 🙂

  • Neely

I have rewatched gossip girl MANY times! I do it with shows constantly!

  • Love coffee talks like these! I wish Texas would get the hint and cool down too.

  • Crockpot recipes are the best! I really wish it would cool down here too! It’s been in the high 80’s!

  • shootingstarsmag

I’m so ready for the actual fall weather to come. It was 90+ all last weekend, but the temperature has slowly been going down so I’m getting there.

And definitely no comparison games! I think we all struggle with the “being a good blogger” thing but it should mean whatever you want it to mean!

  • Totally checking out that taco recipe! I’m in OK and my sister is in GA, it’s tough but it gets easier I promise!

  • Love Gossip Girl! I could watch that series over and over til the end of time! Also, I’ve been feeling the pressure to be a “good blogger” lately too. Bleh.

  • The crockpot is totally my BFF especially for those busy day and it’s the same thing with NC, it is still SO HOT here and I am SO READY for all the sweaters!!!

  • Gossip Girl is so fun to watch! I recently rewatched all the old Gilmore Girls episodes and fell in love with them all over again. I might have to watch GG next!
    xx, Theresa

  • Adriana

I always re-watch GG! Such a classic, it never gets old!

  • I’ve been struggling with putting that exact pressure on myself lately. It’s really awful and so ridiculous. What does being a good blogger even mean? I think we are all amazing in our own way.

  • Whenever I decide I want to watch Gossip Girl (again), I have to stop myself because I know what will happen! It is SO easy to get caught up in it and watch it for hours and hours and hours!

  • I can relate to #3 – trying to be a “good” blogger. I’ve missed posting a couple days now due to other distractions / obligations, and actually feel like a miss of me is missing! 🙁 I enjoy it that much and didn’t realize it! On #4, our unseasonable hot, humid weather finally left and the last couple of days have FINALLY felt like fall to match the foliage here in Maine!

  • I’m with you on being ready for fall. We’re still sweating buckets here in Atlanta too. I’m really ready for it though.

  • I love this recap that you have shared!

    Diary of a Debutante

  • Lauren Falardeau Pariseau

I’ve never watched Gossip Girl, looks like I have a new show to start! It’s finally feeling like fall here in Boston and I am SO ready for scarves and booties and all things pumpkin.

  • It’s so hard when someone close to you moves away. My little sister lives in California and I miss her constantly! Also, I could rewatch Gossip Girl over and over, it’s such an addicting show!

  • Stephanie Parrell

I am really feeling in the Fall spirit here myself. It is really cold here in Newfoundland so lots of sweaters and scarfs 🙂

  • Tori Dunlap

I love discovering new recipes to cook! I love doing chicken or shrimp curry with veggies! (Maybe that’s a good one to try?!)
