Wedding Wear Wednesday
How’s that for an alliteration? Can I real talk for just a second: I really wish we could go back and relive our wedding day over and over! It was such a special day and I really want to wear my dress again. Oh and to have an excuse for Josh to wear a suit (so handsome)!
When choosing our wedding “colors” I knew I 1.) didn’t want it to necessarily be a “Christmas” theme (our wedding was December 3rd) and 2.) I wanted to use pinks even though they are usually tied to Springtime weddings. So here’s what I decided:
Deep Reds, Greens (from nature), Pinks, Lavender, Gold (from the lights), and Navy, Grays
It may not sound too appealing on paper, but if you’ve seen any of my wedding pictures (if you haven’t, keep scrolling), you’ll probably agree with me when I say I couldn’t have been happier as to how well the colors complimented each other!
Flowers with Friends did an amazing job sourcing the flowers in the most vibrant hues and even finding ribbon to match!
I got my dress from Ashley Renee Bridal and YES it’s a little pink-ish! But really when you pry the layers apart, it’s champagne colored underneath giving it that pink glow. When I went to pick up my dress after months, it was WAY pinker than I remembered (I almost had a heart attack)!
P.S. The girls were so helpful and I basically tried on the whole store. This was one of the first dresses I tried on and none of the others could compare to this one!
You can see more of the pink in this picture form my bridals with Brittany Schlamp!
Josh looked so dapper in navy blue (which wasn’t a true navy, but still in the color family!) Josh and his groomsmen rented their suits from Royale Oak.
For any of my local readers–they are actually the nicest people and we shopped around! We were treated rudely and overcharged at two other places before we went here!
MOTHER OF THE BRIDE DRESS
My mom also found her dress at Ashley Renee Bridal! The gray really helped her stand out without having a typical Mother of the Bride dress (which we were both adamant about).
COLD WEATHER ACCESSORIES
We knew we were taking a gamble having an outdoor wedding in the first place, but you never know what the Louisiana weather will do. It could be 80 degrees in December or it could be snowing! Luckily, on our wedding day, it was in the 50s–which is still considered a little chilly here.
Josh and I LOVE cold weather. So the temperatures weren’t a problem for us–plus I was so nervous and too busy walking/talking around all night, I didn’t even need a jacket. But everyone else (read: the gals) who wasn’t so fond of sub 80 temps, I got them fur wraps! And they were a HUGE hit and beautiful!
When considering getting different color bridesmaid’s dresses and having it look like you effortlessly meant for them to mix, but match perfectly: DON’T OVER THINK IT!
I was having some serious anxiety as the wedding got closer about the bridesmaid’s dresses looking stupid and looking like I tried to match, but failed to do so. Seriously. Don’t overthink it! The flowers end up tying everything together perfectly! I got their dresses from Bella Bridemaids and after making them try on literally everything in the store, I decided on two different style dresses in two different colors!
Like I said earlier, I wish we could relive our wedding day over and over again. But until I can figure out a way to do that, for now, I’ll continue to blog about it (almost) every Wednesday.
