Wedding Flowers with Friends
First things first, Flowers with Friends did not pay me to write this–I just LOVED them and their services THAT much!
When I was planning our wedding, I knew I wanted the flowers to be extraordinary without the exorbitant price tag. Every bride-to-be’s dream, am I right? The way I chose my flower vendor was what you could call and act of God/a total accident. I didn’t find them on theknot.com or know anyone that had used them before.
One afternoon, I was waiting for Josh to meet me at our soon-to-be completed house. Usually I listen to Spotify, but this time I was listening to the radio. An ad for Flowers with Friends came on. TWICE IN A ROW. The first time, I’ll be honest, I ignored it. But then it came on again right after–a glitch I’m sure. I remember thinking, well if that’s not a sign to at least look it up, I don’t know what is.
After I looked it up (sitting in the driveway), I texted my mom and my aunt to see if they thought it was a good idea. I ALWAYS need backup opinions and I ALWAYS call my mama.
Now, if you aren’t familiar with Flowers with Friends or their concept, let me explain. In a nutshell, it’s basically a flower party–where you make your own bouquet!
You meet with them and give them the inspiration you have for your wedding (think all of the Pinterest wedding images you’ve been saving for years). From there, they source the flowers at wholesale price and pass that cost on to you with 100% transparency. So basically you’re paying WAY less that what any other florist would charge you. When it gets closer to your event, you have a party and put your bouquets together. Anyone can be a florist!
I got all of my bridesmaids over the night before the wedding and we all sipped mimosas and channeled our inner Eliza Doolittle (back when she was a flower girl). What we created? These works of art. For all you skeptics out there, it’s WAY easier than you’d think. They walk you through what flower to put where and literally help you every step of the way.
But wait there’s more! The Flowers with Friends girls are basically full service florists. Courtney has years of experience and used to own her own flower shop. The Flowers with Friends girls did the boutonnieres for the guys and Laney’s flower crown! (P.S. we dried it and I incorporated it into our bar cart decor!) They even let us keep the flowers left over from the party to use in the rest of our decorations for the wedding!
I can’t say enough about Courtney and Savannah. They were amazing. They gave Laney, my needy dog-child, all of the attention and were just as attentive to us wannabe florists. Their customer service is seriously the best.
Word to the wise. Those bouquets that you see on Pinterest, are way more complicated to hold in real life. Case in point, my bouquet. I gave them inspiration from my Pinterest board and realized a little to late that it was actually a TON of flowers. That consequently also weighed a TON! Don’t get me wrong, I loved my bouquet and probably gained some arm muscles out the deal. But y’all. You can still achieve “your look” without getting carpel tunnel.
If you’re in the New Orleans area and are looking for the perfect florist for your wedding and something different than everyone else, contact Flowers with Friends. Seriously. You’ll be so happy with your bouquets. And let’s be real: hosting a Flowers with Friends party gives you an excuse to drink with your girlfriends and create something at the same time!
