The Best of 2016

What a year. We got engaged, built and moved into our first house, planned a wedding, got married and I still found time to blog. As with every year, looking back on lessons learned and trials endured is truly the ultimate teacher.

I’ve said it before, but if it weren’t for this blog, I honestly wouldn’t know what I was doing or feeling during certain seasons of my life. With 2017, my immediate goal is to keep speaking my mind (what’s on it and in my heart) in this little corner of the internet. While growth is good and it’s what we bloggers all want, I don’t want to lose my voice and stop being real. I’ll get more into my goals/resolutions as the new year rolls in–just wanted to get that off my chest.

I hope this post serves as sort of a round up/glimpse into my life this past year and encourages you to focus and reflect on the best things that this past year–life wouldn’t be as much fun if there were no ups and downs!

2016 Word of the Year

I started 2016 with a word of the year: fearless. AndΒ I so wish I reminded myself of it more this year. Getting engaged, moving, and getting married (aka LOTS OF CHANGE) was kind of scary!

FASHION: Winter Whites

Earlier this year, I dabbled in fashion blogging and I LOVED IT! Winter Whites were definitely a thing and still are with this finicky Louisiana weather! P.S.I hope to bring y’all more outfit inspiration in the new year πŸ™‚

A Day in the Life

Twenty-fifteen was hard for me, as I got laid off from my job at the time. Twenty-sixteen, I came into my own and found a job as a Social Media Manager!

#Winning

I got to speak at a local college about Blogging TWICE this year and felt totally in my element! I see more of this in my future…

5 Reasons to Be Active in the Morning

Remember when I tried to be a morning person? Yea me too. Hopefully I’ll be able to follow my own advice this New Year! (Hint: I’m trying the #28dayreset by Cassey Ho from Blogilates! Wish me luck!)

The Engagement

After dating for close to 8 years, we got engaged in San Antonio on May 28th! I had no idea (no really, NO IDEA) it was coming and all I could say was “Are you kidding me?!” San Antonio will always hold a special place in my heart!

Our First House

Shortly after we got engaged, we moved into our brand new house! Currently, still trying move things in–it’s a process y’all.

I Got My Braces Off!

I got my braces off in August and it was the BEST thing ever! Having waited for this day for over two years, feeling like a preteen for both of those years, it was worth it!

Girl’s Night

Girl’s night became “a thing” this year! I never really understood the importance of it until my work friends, Kaitlyn and Lizzie (also blogger friends y’all) and I made it a weekly tradition!

Fashion: Slouchy Tunics

Fashion posts made a brief appearance on Because I Said So again! I hope to post more in 2017 πŸ™‚

Premarital Counseling + Wedding Week Thoughts

Probably the biggest life eventΒ that happened this year, WE GOT MARRIED! I knew from the very beginning of Josh and I’s relationship that we would get married, eventually. It was touch and go there for awhile and he made me wait almost 8 years, but our wedding was beautiful and I’m so excited to see where this new year takes us as husband and wife.

Twenty sixteen was good to me in so many ways; I truly can’t wait to experience everything that twenty seventeen has to offer. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
