Jazz’n the Vines

I live for the weekends. I can work on my blog non stop, catch up on sleep, and spend time with my family. Last weekend will be tough to beat, though, because it was my Dad’s 57th birthday! To celebrate, the whole crew went to Jazz’n the Vines, a music event at a local vineyard. Who knew we had vineyards in Louisiana, much less practically in my parent’s backyard? It was Josh and I’s first time going and we had such a great time.

Pontchartrain Vineyards hosts Jazz’n the Vines, an outdoor concert series, on various weekends during the year. People bring their blankets, picnics, and citronella candles for a night of wine, music, and dancing under the stars. And no, I was not paid to write this, I just loved it THAT much!

The vineyard sold their wine before and during the concert. We stocked up before hand, but with six of us, we had to go back for more #sorrynotsorry Side note: I’m usually not a fan of Chardonnay, but Pontchartrain Vineyards adds a sweet component to theirs that makes me hate the variety a little less. The Le Trolley was my other favorite!

The vineyard also had food trucks set up, so when the wine started to take it’s flow, you could pop on over and order a BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich or a bowl of gumbo. Next time we’ll be a little bit more prepared and bring a lot of snacks because those food truck lines were crazy!

Mint Julep Boutique Slouchy Tunic

What I’m wearing: Tunic c/o | Jeans | Flats | Fedora | David Yurman Ring | FitBit Cover

What Josh is wearing: Polo | Khaki Shorts | Nike Free Runners

The afternoons in South Louisiana can get to be stifling this time of year, while the early mornings and nights get cool (read upper 50s). So to answer the question I’m sure all of y’all are thinking…no, you aren’t seeing things.

This tunic is the twin to the one I wrote about here. Yep. I have two that I literally wear once a week–ask anyone that I work with. Because when something is this great, you get two of them! And it turns out it was the perfect thing to wear to a Louisiana concert (vineyard style) under the stars! I didn’t need bug spray and it was super cute!

Louisiana Saturday Night

Last weekend was tons of fun. The music, the food, the wine, and the company had a lot to do with it. I almost think someone in our family should have a birthday every weekend.

It’ll be hard to top, but since I live for the weekends, I think I will enjoy this one just as much!

Have a great weekend y’all!

Nothing beats a good winery (are there even bad ones?) and live music! There were a ton where I lived in Texas, and a ton where I live now in Maryland, but absolutely NONE when I lived on Oahu. That might actually be why I wasn’t a big fan of living there. Haha!

Looks like you had an amazing time! Love that top!

I was, at first, excited when I found out there were wineries in Tennessee. But, after trying them at a tasting event, I was disappointed – they’re all so SWEET here!

I’m originally a California girl so I left Wine Country to come here. But, thankfully, wine ships. So I still get my fix 🙂

  • This looks like a lot of fun! And happy birthday to your dad!

  • I think we all live for the weekends. Sometimes we celebrate and sometimes it’s just about relaxing but either way, I wouldn’t know what would be the sense of life it there weren’t weekends and vacations.

All I saw was wine and instantly loved this post!

  • This sounds like such a fun event! And I love the name of it too. 🙂

Happy bday to your dad! And if you’re not really a wine drinker, I’d recommend having a white Zinfandel. It’s also sweet.

I always like wearing layers when I go to outdoor events so I can put on or take off clothes if the temps fluctuate too much!

  • Sounds like a very relaxing yet fun-filled day! Thanks for sharing 🙂 I love events like these–being outdoors with great music, drinks, and people you love 🙂

  • The event sounds like so much fun! Love your hat! http://www.callmeliz.co.uk
