Winning Your Office Costume Contest in Three Easy Steps

Happy Halloween from the Trio of Trolls!

Let me preface this by saying that I rarely ever do Halloween. As a child, I’d go to all the Fall Festivals, but rarely did I ever Trick or Treat.

But, when my office decided to have a Halloween costume contest that the MAYOR was judging, who was I to say no? Also, the winner got a PAID DAY OFF! I may not be a big Halloween fan, but I’m not dumb.

Halloween Costume Ideas

Troll Costume

Lizzie from Live Fabuliz, Kait from Kait around the Kingdom, and I went back and forth between Snapchat filters and a few other ideas and even tried to let our Twitter followers decide on our costume idea. Eventually, we decided on Trolls. And by eventually, I mean last night.

When it came to assembling our costumes, we decided to go the low-key, comfortable route. Big T-shirts, leggings, tennis shoes, and make up ended up being the right combination because WE WON! That’s right. You’re looking at winners, y’all. Do we look like “trolls” Maybe. Do we look like winners? Most definitely.

So as a veteran office costume party participator (and winner), here are some tips to rocking your next shindig:

  1. Keep it Simple. Don’t overthink it. Keep the initial idea simple and jazz it up with the accessories and make up. A little bit of blue lipstick never hurt anyone.
  2. Strength in Numbers. Get a group to go all as one thing. Examples: M&Ms, Trolls, Crayons, etc. They couldn’t ignore the fact that we were creative in our outfits, make up, and hairstyles and they likely won’t be able to ignore you either!
  3. Have fun! Most importantly, have fun! But you already knew that, right? Halloween is all about having fun and if you’re having fun, it’ll show and make your costume shine!

These are great ideas. We do tend to overthink our costumes when it’s time to dress up for work Halloween celebrations. I love the blue lipstick!

  • This is adorable!!! The makeup and hair are so perfect, I’ll definitely have to do this next Halloween!

Great ideas there, especially keeping it simple. Over-complicating things usually does not make a great costume but can flop dramatically! Your outfits look great by the way ?
